Snowdonia 23rd – 24th October:
After another morning watching the sunrise outside the RKC, we finally found the car keys and
rushed to Snowdon in time for lunch. Half the group attempted Crib Goch, but were turned back by
Mountain Rescue due to 70mph winds. The other half set out for a less exposed scramble up Y
Lliwedd but with the weather setting in, we also called quits and returned to the cars. We had dinner
at spoons (after dumping everything in the bunkhouse) and a pitstop at Morrisons for drinks, snacks
and cake for Harry’s birthday.
We were out by 10.30am on Sunday into torrential rain and winds, parking at Capel Curig. Most
ascended up Moel Siabod in the clouds and horizontal rain whilst the 4 saner members ambled
around the Gwydir Forest Park to Llyn Crafnant with rainbows and vertical rain. With a delay coming
down off the mountain, we four had a nice pub meal and met others after an hour or so. We
eventually got back to York for midnight after a Maccies dinner.
Despite a very wet, windy and cloudy weekend, we all had great fun.
